Our group got up early to be on a bus by 6 in the
morning. We drove from Puerta Ayora to
the other side of Santa Cruz Island. Once there we boarded a boat, had
breakfast, and then had a 2 and a half hour ride to Bartolome Island. At
Bartolome we observed the land scape, primarily made up of volcanic rock. We
hiked up a very long set of stairs to get to the highest point of the island
and a fantastic view of the surrounding area. We took pictures and enjoyed this
iconic view of the Galapagos! We then
loaded back into the dingy and headed out to snorkel in Sullivan Bay, off
Santiago Island. We saw many colorful fish as well as a Galapagos Penguin.
We then
took a 2 and a half hour boat ride back the Santa Cruz. Once back at Puerto
Ayora, we had time to shop both before and after dinner. We then proceeded to
pack to leave the hotel early the next morning for our next journey to Isabela
Island.
